Sapper Vs Gunners Charity Event raises £50,000 for Autism Research Trust and the Felix fund.

On the 6th July 2016 MMS were delighted to be invited to attend the ‘Sappers V Gunners’ Army charity boxing event organised by the 101 (City of London) Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal).

The event, that took place at Stamford Bridge, saw 400 guests entertained with 9 bouts of boxing alongside a 4 course meal and auction. The event was a huge success and raised a staggering £50,000 which beat their 2015 total of just over £41,000.

A special event organised to present the charities with the monies at Carver Barracks took place in February 2017 where Lieutenant Colonel Hawkins and Honorary Colonal Jools Holland, who is also a patron of the Autism Research Trust, were able to present each Charity with a staggering £25,000.

Alana Richardson – The next Table Tennis Champion?

Alana Richardson, the daughter of our NGEC Administration Supervisor Phillipa, moved up to the girls under 13’s ranking and currently stands at 28th in the country. At just 11 years old Alana hopes to move swiftly up these rankings over the next two years. Tomorrow, Saturday the 17th November 2016, she has her first county match which she is looking forward too and just last week she entered the nationals and came 2nd in Leicestershire.

Alana loves the sport and enjoys collecting medals.

Phillipa said: Her ability and progress has been great for her self-confidence and whilst she is enjoying the sport and getting lots of exercise will encourage her all the way.

MMS was proudly able to support Alana’s passion for the sport and was able to contribute to her progress by gifting a new table tennis table so Alana is able to practise at every opportunity.

Well done from all of us at MMS and we wish you the best of luck in all your upcoming tournaments.

Callum TUPE transferred into MMS on the 1st April as an Electrical engineer and has since moved up to site supervisor managing a very busy and high profile site.
